As an introduction to this session, we will discuss with some major actors of this domain the role and future of open source communities in the embedded systems field.

En guise d'introduction à cette session, nous discuterons avec quelques acteurs majeurs de ce domaine du rôle et de l'avenir des communautés open source dans le domaine des systèmes embarqués.
In the last 5 years, Open Source has gained more and more interest in the domain of Embedded Systems development. It now covers most of the industry domains from Telecommunications to Aeronautics, including Space, Transportation, Energy and HealthCare.
The Open Source initiatives of the Embedded Systems domain go from Operating Systems to development tools areas including middleware platforms like Genivi. Some recent initiatives even address Open Hardware for Embedded Systems.
Many established communities like The Linux Foundation or the Eclipse Foundation create special programs to tackle specific issues of Embedded Systems: need for long term support, development in extended enterprise context, system certification by authorities, etc.
This track gathers the main actors of OSS for Embedded Systems ecosystem who will share their insights, their feedbacks and their plans for the future.
Communautés Open Source pour les Systèmes Embarqués
Depuis plus de 5 ans, l'Open Source suscite de plus en plus d'intérêt dans le domaine du développement de Systèmes Embarqués. L'Open Source aborde la plupart des domaines de l'industrie, des Télécommunications à l'Aéronautique, en incluant le Spatial, les Transports, l'Energie et la Santé.
Les initiatives Open Source dans le domaine des Systmes Embarqués couvrent aussi bien les "Operating Systems" que les outils de développement, en incluant des plate-formes middleware comme Genivi. Des initiatives récentes abordent aussi les problématiques d'"Open Hardware" pour les Systèmes Embarqués.
De nombreuses communautés existantes comme la Linux Foundation ou l'Eclipse Foundation créent des programmes spéciaux pour traiter les enjeux spécifiques des Systèmes Embarqués: besoin de support à long terme, développement en entreprise étendue, certification des systèmes par les autorités, etc.
Cette session rassemble les acteurs principaux des écosystèmes Open Source pour les Systèmes Embarqués. Ils présenterons leur communauté, et partagerons leurs expériences ainsi que leur vision pour le futur.
A l’instar de l’arrivée d’Internet dans les années 1990, le marché des technologies mobiles est en plein boom. Smartphones et tablettes sont devenus incontournables et ont apportés bon nombre de nouveaux usages.
L'Open Source n'est pas absent de ce marché bien au contraire ! Android a plus de 50% de part de marché mondiale !
Le monde historique du nomadisme basé principalement sur Windows CE / Windows mobile connaît une vrai révolution ! Android est-il une alternative à Windows pour les projets métiers ?
Les OS mobiles Open Sources sortent largement du cadre des terminaux mobiles, pour s’inviter dans des produits toujours plus divers (automobile, domotique, mobiliers urbains, ...) mais sont-il conçus pour ça ?
L'Open Source est aussi très présent dans les langages et framework de développement alternatif comme HTML5 et PhoneGap. Est-ce la fin du développement natif ?

uID Architecture: Open Architecture for the IoT and TRON Project
The merits of open architecture and open approach is explained using an IoT application in Japan. uID architecture was used to build the application and it is based on open architecture philosophy. TRON Project, with the open architecture approach, has produced open source real-time OS kernel, and is also behind uID architecture.
Bibiana will present examples of how TriMet and other agencies are benefiting from open data and open source software. Considerations, risks, rewards, and lessons learned will be shared.
Showcases include the OpenTripPlanner Project and the OpenStreetMap Improvement Project.
Le logiciel libre joue un rôle de plus en plus important dans l’évolution des métiers du numérique. De nombreuses entreprises, adminsitrations intègrent ces technologies innovantes. Combien disposent cependant des compétences pour les gérer ? Comment favoriser le développement de notre industrie logicielle & service ? Au delà des aspects économiques et industriels, quel est le rôle du logiciel libre dans l’éducation du citoyen numérique ? Nous essaierons de répondre à ces différentes questions lors de cette journée.
Cette journée commencera par une plénière à 9h30 dont Jean-Baptiste Roger, Directeur de La Fonderie, fera l’ouverture.
Interviendront lors de cette table ronde: Philippe Montargès, Co-Président Alter Way, Roberto Di Cosmo, Directeur Irill, Jean-Pierre Archambault, Président EPI, François Taddei, Directeur de recherche CRI. Elle sera animée par Jonathan Le Lous.

Today we may think that the world is more connected than ever. While there are pathways for many of the 7 billion people in the world to be connected, we are likely connected to those who are like ourselves or have similar interests. During her keynote on the theme of "Humanitarian Free & Open Source Software", Heather Blanchard, a graduate student of global communications at the American University of Paris, will outline the gap between those within institutions such as governments, non-profits and companies and the increasing amount of informal collectives who cluster together in community projects, global movements or just communities of interest. Institutions and informal collectives keep colliding with each other during crisis events rather than creating long-term investment to build sustainable bridges of dialogue and collaboration. Heather will focus her discussion to illustrate the rise of digital humanitarian informal collectives and how their actions illustrate gaps in service, challenge business models, create new influences in public policy and are beginning to shift the dialogue and collaboration between institutions and informal collectives within international and domestic crisis response systems.
Free, Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS) began as a not-for-profit endeavor. FLOSS licenses have, of course, always permitted both commercial and non-commercial activity. However, the heart of FLOSS development remains in the not-for-profit space. For example, much of the early GNU software that makes up our modern GNU/Linux systems was written by staff developers employed by the Free Software Foundation (FSF) , whom the FSF paid to write that software and release it under Free Software licenses.
In recent years, non-profits have been somewhat underutilized to advance software freedom. Most projects now organize informally, with both volunteer and corporate contributors. Informal affiliations have their advantage, but lack of a formal organization can often lead to missed opportunities for the project.
Non-profit organizational structure has serious advantages for FLOSS projects. Non-profits exist as "neutral territory" for a project's community. Funders (which can include for-profit companies, non-profit grant-making institutions and individuals) can give through the non-profit to support the activity of the project as a whole,,instead of merely supporting one specific contributor. Indeed, non-profits can advance the project's goals while benefiting the public good. Additionally, governmental non-profit regulations provide verification processes to assure that a single for-profit vendor has not hijacked the project.
Most importantly, though, non-profits can collect donations and use those donations to pay developers to write new software. This possibility has existed, and has been regularly used, since the early 1980s, but became less common in the late 1990s. Most new projects seek for-profit business models, and often simply do not realize they could utilize a non-profit structure to fund their work without the quagmire of seeking profit: the work merely needs to break-even.
If projects wish to pursue these ideas, there are two main mechanisms to officially become a non-profit. A project can create their own organization, or join an existing non-profit "fiscal sponsor" who handles the non-profit activity for the project. Cette keynote s’efforcera de dresser un large panorama de la question et de proposer plusieurs pistes pragmatiques, d’une part aux décideurs publics, au niveau territorial, national et européen, et d’autre part aux citoyens acteurs et promoteurs de la démocratie ouverte.
Le panel Démocratie Ouverte donnera aux participants l’occasion d’évoquer plusieurs perspectives concrètes (méthodologie, fondements scientifiques, design et technique) du projet Parlement & Citoyens (http://parlement-et-citoyens.fr/).

First talk will be an introduction to Google TV, covering what Google TV is, the basics of what you need to know to target the GTV platform for Chrome and Android and finally go over some useful API's.
Break with a demo AR Drone to demonstrate the power of GTV & Android since the AR.Drone can be powered by phones and tablets while streaming video to the TV.
The second talk will be heavily Android focused, looking at the anymote protocol and API used for multi screen applications and some of the new API's for DRM and streaming support.
Le FUDCon (pour « Fedora Users and Developers Conferences ») est le plus grand événement organisé pour les utilisateurs et contributeurs du Projet Fedora. En général, il a lieu une fois par an dans chaque région sur toute la planète.
Pour notre région, Afrique − Europe − Russie, l'événement a déjà été organisé à Berlin, Zurich, et Milan. Cette année, les contributeurs francophones l'organisent à Paris !
Ce sera l'occasion de franchir le pas vers la contribution lors des conférences, ateliers (hackfest/barcamp) organisés, ou tout simplement de venir rencontrer les contributeurs qui font vivre Fedora au travers de leurs passions pour l'innovation et le logiciel libre. Tous les domaines seront représentés, notamment : empaquetage RPM, rpmfusion.org, développement d'applications, sites internet, traduction, design, marketing, documentation, administration, virtualisation, cloud…
Cet événement est gratuit (il faudra se préinscrire tout de même), et les discussions seront majoritairement en anglais, mais la communauté francophone sera au rendez-vous, pas d'hésitation à avoir !
Un artiste libre ou open source créé-t-il différemment ? La diffusion de l’oeuvre libre est elle si éloignée de l’oeuvre sous copyright ? Le libre sauvera-t-il la culture ?
